CV (xl) Emiel van Dijk

Emiel van Dijk was born in 1971 in Best, the Netherlands.
From 1985 he had guitar lessons from Jan v.d. Langenberg at the Muziekinstituut Best-Oirschot (the Netherlands).
In 1989 he got the first price in the TROMP competition for schools near Eindhoven (involving all instuments).

From 1990 Emiel studied at the Brabants Conservatory in Tilburg (the Netherlands) both classical guitar (with Tom Burmanje and Hein Sanderink) and jazz guitar (with Peter Mingaars).
During his study he also actively participated in many masterclasses with such artists as David Russell, Leo Brouwer, Philip Catherine and Zoran Dukic among others.

He graduated cum laude in 1997 for his classical concert degree.

Now he teaches the guitar at music schools in Best/Oirschot and Hilvarenbeek (all in the Netherlands).

All kinds of compositions have been written by him involving the guitar.
His music is influenced by Pop, Classical, Jazz and World-Music.

In 2000 he made his debut CD 'Blueprint' .
In 2002 the CD 'Across the Borders' was published by the German label 'Acoustic Music Records'.
in 2007 Rhythm of the Guitar with the Emiel van Dijk Trio (Guitar, Drums and Bass)
The CD's were acclaimed by the international press.

From 2002 he writes monthly the globalstrings fingerstyle workshops in the Dutch monthly guitar magazine -Gitaar Plus-.

He played at international guitarfestivals like Open Strings 2003 in Osnabruck (Dld).
As a soloist he performed the Concerto de Aranjuez with the orchestra's: Philips Harmonie, Harmonie Orkest Vleuten en Phileutonia.

Emiel composed and played the music of the musicaltheatre-story Echo's uit het hart.
The performances in 2004/2005 in the Dutch theatres were received with enthusiasm.

Now he has a succesfull programm with the Emiel van Dijk Trio.
